Each Christmas season for the past several years the Waukesha Downtown Business Association has been hosting its annual Silver Bells in Waukesha event.

Typically beginning in the second week of November, Silver Bells runs for the four Saturdays before Christmas.

The event begins on November 23rd with the Holiday Stroll, followed by the 52nd Annual Waukesha Christmas Parade later that afternoon.

The Holiday Stroll is a great opportunity for everyone to get into the Holiday Spirit as carolers stroll through downtown and music fills the streets. Costume characters will be seen, and Santa will be available for pictures from Noon to 3:00 p.m. at Martha Merrell’s Books at 231 W. Main Street.  Downtown shops will be decorated for the holiday season as they roll out the red carpet with store specials and holiday cheer.

After the Holiday Stroll it’s time for the 52nd Annual Waukesha Christmas Parade, which runs from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.  Children can bring their letters to Santa and give them to the mail carriers at the start of the Parade, or to Santa’s Elves at the end of the parade.  Kids should be sure to include their name and address to receive their return note from Santa.

Continuing on through November the holiday season in downtown Waukesha amplifies with Christmas Caroling. Beginning on November 23rd, and continuing each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December 23rd, Christmas Carolers will stroll throughout the streets of downtown and inside local Waukesha businesses singing Christmas Carols.  In addition to singing carolers will be accepting donations to raise funds for the Healing Hearts of Waukesha County, a non-profit organization which provides an art-enriching experience for middle school students and the community.  The Christmas caroling event is being organized by The Steaming Cup, and they are looking for Christmas Caroling volunteers.  Gather your friends and family members and have some festive fun caroling in downtown Waukesha.

After the Christmas parade Silver Bells resumes on December 6th for the Art Crawl #84  from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Visit the host of art shops, food shops, and other local businesses during this beautiful holiday event.  You can make your way throughout the art crawl by taking a free trolley ride, or even a carriage ride.  Horse Drawn Carriage rides are $5.00 per adult or $12 for a family of three or more.

Last but not least is the 6th Annual 5K Santa Run/Walk for Charity on December 7th, 2014 beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Enjoy a great festive run/walk through the streets of Downtown Waukesha & Frame Park while supporting Interfaith Senior Programs of Waukesha County. Have a great festive holiday family day.  Prizes will be awarded while enjoying Christmas cookies, hot chocolate and of course holiday music and carolers.
